Some more French Imperial Guard

 With the correct command figures, another Guard Grenadier unit is ready for the table:

Ros 25mm British

 Yesterday was the turn of some British troops to be refurbished and added to my updated 1815 allied Army.

The first unit is made up of 10 Ros British Riflemen, painted to represent the 60th Rifles. Ros did not produce a Rifles command, so I have added a bugler from Minifigs and an officer by Les Higgins. They are now ready to take to the field:

The second unit is a British Line Infantry battalion, again by Ros.  All of the figures are Ros Miniatures:

Painted Prussian Jaegers

The latest figures to be painted are these splendid Prussian Jagers.  The hornists are conversions and the officers are by Warrior Miniatures.

Prussian Artillery - Painted

Over the Christmas break I managed to paint a set of Prussian artillerymen:

They are cast from originals by Old John.

Parcel from Old John

Some time ago I asked Old John if he could recast some of the more rare Ros figures. Well, after a great deal of hard work by John I have received a parcel full of French, British and Prussian command figures as well as some Prussian artillery - now where is my paint brush!

French Imperial Guard Officer

This little figure popped up amongst some Hinchliffe figures and I just had to buy him! He is part of the five figure command set for the French Imperial Guard Grenadiers.

He has a stunted sword, which is fairly common with Ros figures and he appears to have lost his pointing finger, but otherwise is quite a nice example.

French Hussars Painted

A nice little weekend project. I have finally painted the set of four French Hussars in the colours of the 8th Regiment:

A Nice Little Find

After months of very little, this nice group of Ros 25mm British centre company line infantry in stovepipe shakos turn up. They were hidden amongst some Hinchliffe giants. 

Their base is marked BI 2. It would be nice to find some flank company types as well.

French Line Dragoons

These figures are very similar to the French Empress Dragoons, although they lack the shoulder cords and the horse furniture is less elaborate:

Prussian Artillery

In a recent acquisition there were a number of new finds including this nice group of Prussian gunners.  Wearing campaign dress, with covered shakos and blanket rolls, these examples follow the standard Ros artillery package, of five figures and a gun. The figures include an officer, a gunner with rammer, another with spike and two standing figures.  The gun appears to be the same as that used in the French sets; namely a French 8 pdr.

French Line Infantry - Full Set

Just for the record and before they are painted, here is a picture of the complete French line infantry set made by Ros. This includes the line grenadier, line fusilier and command set:

British Light Dragoons - Painted

I have managed to cobble together enough light dragoons to make up a unit; which I have painted over the last few days. I found four of these by error. I was going through a load of what I thought were Chasseurs a Cheval with broken plumes, wondering what to do with them, when I realised that, despite the way they were painted, they were not French at all. So they joined the other four scruffy figures that had been painted as Prussian dragoons, which were also repainted.

They paint up rather well, I think. To me they have a vey close resemblance to the modern Miniature Figurines light dragoon, in terms of pose and horse designe. I wonder if the sculpter is the same person?

I have recently received another load of figures, with many castings not seen before. I will be reviewing those over the coming days.

French Hussar

The last group of figures from the large hoard are French Hussars. Dressed in dolman and pelisse, with bell topped shakos these figures cover many different hussar regiments of the French Napoleonic army.  Once again, I believe these to be slightly later moulds giving a finer looking figure. I look forward to painting these.

French Guard Lancers - Painted

Last night I finished off painting the French Guard Lancers, in the colours of the 2nd (Dutch) Regiment of the Imperial Guard. I think they scrubbed up quite well!

French Guard Chasseurs a Cheval

The next figure from the 'hoard' is yet another new item from the range. This time it is a French Imperial Guard Chasseur a Cheval. This is another nice looking figure and I am guessing that it is a later production as the proportions and detail are better then other figures. The pose is pretty much standard for the Ros range and his horse is the same as that used for the French Guard Lancer:
